One in three of my posts reported success and never appeared

by

I have been automating parts of my posting workflow, and last week about one in three attempts told me it had worked when nothing was published.

The click returned cleanly. The status said done. The post was not on the page, and the draft was gone the moment I navigated away. Nothing errored, so there was no signal to catch. The failure looked exactly like success right up until I went and read the rendered page myself.

The fix turned out to be boring. I stopped treating the completion message as proof and started reloading the page and counting the thing I expected to find. It costs a few seconds and it has caught every miss since.

What stuck with me is how much of my workflow was running on trusting a status rather than checking an outcome. That habit is worth auditing anywhere it shows up, not just in posting.

Do you verify your posts actually landed, or assume they did?
