Lessons I Learned While Building AURELIA — Lesson #1

When I started building AURELIA, I thought products were created by writing better code.

After thousands of hours of building, I realized I was wrong.

Code doesn't create a product.

It gives shape to an idea.

The real beginning happens much earlier.

It starts with a question that refuses to leave your mind.

The kind of question that stays with you while you're working, walking, reading, or trying to sleep.

Months pass.

Sometimes years.

Yet the question keeps growing until building becomes the only way to answer it.

Looking back, I don't think I built AURELIA because I wanted to create software.

I built it because I couldn't stop searching for an answer.

Software simply became the language I used to continue that search.

Since then, I've started looking at innovation differently.

Maybe products aren't born from technology.

Maybe they're born from questions that survive long enough to deserve becoming reality.

So I'd like to ask every builder here:

What was the first question that made you start building your product?

Not your business model.

Not your first feature.

The question that refused to leave you.
