I published my full Kitty Points breakdown. Forum threads pay about 8x what comments pay.

Everyone here tells you to comment more. I went and read what the points actually say, and they disagree.

My all time breakdown, read today on producthunt.com/kitty-points with the period switched to All time. Switch it, because the default view is last week and that is how people end up quoting the wrong number as their total. I did exactly that twice.

121 KP total. Forum Threads +58. Comments +48. Reviews +10. Maker +6.

Eight forum threads produced that +58. Every comment I have ever written on this site produced +48. So a thread pays roughly 7 KP and a comment pays roughly 0.74, and one thread is worth about eight comments.

Here is the part I did not expect. Six of those eight threads got no replies at all. They still paid. Meanwhile a comment where a maker replied to me three times and upvoted twice paid the same 0.74 as a comment nobody read. Reception and payout are two different scoreboards, and the one you can see is not the one that pays.

Two other things I had wrong, in case it saves someone the trouble.

Reviews only count when a maker attaches them to a launch. Mine render under Other Reviews rather than Founder Reviews, and the reviewer counter beside my name reads 0 on every one of them. I wrote several and my profile now shows one. Without a launch of your own there is nothing to attach a review to, so it is not a lever for most people here no matter how many you write.

Verified Account is +20, one time, and I still have not claimed it. On a small account that is worth more than every comment I have ever written. Jernej Jan Kocica published his own breakdown here recently: 41 KP total, 20 of it from verification alone. If your account is young, that is the highest paying ten minutes on the site.

None of this tells you what to write. It tells you where the points are, which is a different question. The honest answer is threads and verification, not comment count.
