Does losing a paying customer hurt your ego or your business strategy more?

by•

In the early days, seeing new signups was an absolute rush. But the second we introduced paid plans, watching a paying customer cancel after 3 weeks hit completely differently. It felt less like a lost metric and more like a direct rejection of our product's value.

Looking closely at cancellation reasons, people aren't rejecting us because our price is too high. They're leaving because we failed to show them immediate value in their first week.

Not the founder feeling the sting, so this is from the marketing side of retention. What you flagged matters more than the price complaint: if someone doesn't hit a clear moment of value in that first week, no price saves the subscription. The first session is where I would look before anything support says afterward.
