How do you back up your iPhone photos today?

by•

Hi, I'm Amr, the solo maker of Gallerya. It launches here on Tuesday 20 October.

Gallerya backs up an iPhone or iPad photo library to a USB-C drive you own. It copies only what's new, as originals, checks every file with SHA-256, and leaves plain dated folders that any computer can open. No iCloud, no account.

Before launch day, I'm curious how you handle it now:

  • Where do your photos live: iCloud, Google Photos, a Mac or PC, a drive, or only on the phone?

  • What would you need to see before you trusted a backup?

  • If you've tried backing up to a drive before, what got in the way?

I'll read every reply, and they'll feed into what comes after 1.1.
