eyeQ - A visual perception challenge

I have spent more than two decades designing digital products, obsessing over alignment, spacing, proportions, and pixel-perfect layouts.

But recently, I started wondering about something.

How accurate is our visual judgment when we take away all the tools?

For example, if I showed you a circle and asked you to mark its exact center, how close would you get?

Or could you draw a perfect 90° angle without a grid or ruler?

These sound like ridiculously simple tasks. But they are surprisingly difficult when you actually try them.

That curiosity led me to build eyeQ, a little mobile game that tests your visual precision through geometric challenges. You make your best guess, and the game measures how accurate you were.

I've been having fun exploring how our perception differs from reality.

Now I'm curious about something else:

Do you think designers actually have better visual judgment than developers, engineers, or people who don't work in design?

Or have we just become really good at using alignment tools? 😄

Would love to hear your thoughts. And when you try eyeQ, I would be curious to know which challenge was the most difficult!
