dollparts - Type 12 cm. See 12 cm. On a 3D body, in your browser

by•
Most people pick a tattoo's size from a picture on a phone. dollparts puts the design on a 3D plaster body at the size you type, in centimetres. Upload any image and the linework lifts off the paper. Place it, bend it to the skin, turn it, look from the side and the back, then export a picture or send the plan as a link. 74 bodies, male and female. Free, in your browser, no account to try it, no photo of you, no AI.

I made dollparts at moiraidigital, a small studio. A tattoo is permanent, and most people pick its size from a picture on a phone. Artists then get asked for "small" or "medium". Nobody knows how big 3 cm is on a forearm until it's drawn on. What it does: upload any image (a drawing, a photo of a sketch, a screenshot) and the background lifts off, leaving the linework. Click one of 74 plaster bodies to place it, set the size in centimetres, turn and mirror it, bend it to follow the skin, put several pieces on one body. Export a picture for your artist, or save the plan and send it as a link; whoever opens it can open it in dollparts and move things. You can try all of it without an account; an account comes in when you export or save. Everything runs in your browser, and your designs stay on your device unless you save a plan. There is no AI in it. The lift is image processing, and the bodies are scanned and sculpted casts under open licences. What it doesn't do: it doesn't design tattoos, and it isn't a photo of you. The figures don't pose. Artists: you don't tattoo screens, so your flash shouldn't stay flat either. Make a page, put your flash in, and your credit goes on every export. Free, like the rest. Two questions. If you have tattoos, how did you decide the size? Artists: what would make you send a client here instead of a screenshot?
