CleanKeys - Lock your keyboard and block clicks while cleaning your Mac

by
CleanKeys is a free macOS utility that temporarily disables keyboard input while you clean your keyboard. Unlike similar apps, it expands to full screen and blocks mouse clicks across all connected displays, leaving only the unlock button accessible. No accidental clicks, no random shortcuts and no need to lock or shut down your Mac. It features a clean Liquid Glass-inspired interface and is especially useful on MacBooks, which don't have a keyboard lock button.

I originally built CleanKeys just for myself. I like keeping my keyboard clean, but I was always triggering shortcuts, typing random characters or clicking things while wiping it. Existing apps solved part of the problem, but I still found myself accidentally clicking buttons in other windows. So I made CleanKeys. It temporarily locks the keyboard and expands to full screen, blocking mouse clicks across all connected displays. The only thing you can click is the unlock button. It's a tiny utility that does one job and stays out of your way. It's completely free, and I'd love to hear your feedback or ideas for making it better. Thanks for checking it out! 🙌

Honestly love how it blocks clicks across every display, not just the main one. That full-screen lockout with just the unlock button is a really thoughtful detail most people wouldn't even think to handle.

Thank you for your kind words! I’m glad you noticed that detail!

the full screen lock across every display is such a thoughtful touch, especially since most people probably have multiple monitors and would miss that gotcha with simpler tools

honestly this looks super handy, been there with the random shortcut panic mid wipe. one thing though, maybe add a quick timer option so it auto unlocks after like 30 seconds, basically a safety net in case you walk away and forget about it
