Classic View for Google Images - Bring back the clean, classic Google Images layout

by
Classic View replaces the Google Images masonry grid with clean horizontal rows. Preview images on hover, open originals with View Image, filter by size, hide related searches, and adjust row height and spacing. Lightweight, customizable, and private.

Hi Product Hunt! I’m Krystian, the developer behind Classic View for Google Images. The project started with a Reddit post from someone asking for an extension that would bring back the old horizontal Google Images layout. I had the same new masonry grid and agreed that it was harder to scan, especially on a large desktop screen. What looked like a small CSS fix quickly turned into handling dynamically loaded results, Google’s changing page structure and direct links to original images. Classic View now restores justified horizontal rows and adds hover zoom, a View Image button, quick size filters and controls for row height and spacing. The extension does not collect searches, browsing history or personal data. I’d love to hear how it works with your Google account and screen setup. If you find a broken layout or have an idea for a useful option, leave a comment and I’ll take a look.

Love how lightweight it feels while still packing practical features like the hover preview and size filter. Bringing back horizontal rows was the right call.
