Yes the Bitcoin are automatically transfered in safe custodial storage (offline) - at the same time it is possible to withdraw at any time (the only cost being the BTC transaction cost).
Instant transfers are really nice, and possible because they happen off-chain. The big caveat being that you can only send them to other Circle users... 💭
