Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Richard, designer and maker of Chef's Special. Why I built this: We’ve all been burned by the "4.5-star restaurant trap." You look up a spot on Yelp or Google Maps, see glowing reviews for the ambiance or service, and still end up ordering the wrong thing on the menu. Meanwhile, a neighborhood dive with 3.8 stars might quietly serve the best charred cabbage, tuna tostada, or slice of pizza in the city. You don't eat a restaurant: you eat a dish. What Chef's Special does differently: 🍽️ Dish-First Discovery & Interactive Map: Browse and filter a live map of specific 5/5 dishes around you (chefsspecial.app/map) instead of wading through paragraphs of service complaints. 👑 The "Chef Specialist" Crown: Inspired by classic Foursquare mayorships, when you discover and rate a standout dish—or log the definitive version of a dish—you can claim and defend the crown for that specific plate. 👨‍🍳 Restaurant Inspiration Meets Home Kitchen: Great meals out almost always inspire what we cook at home. Alongside tracking restaurant dishes, you can log your own home-cooked plates and recipes in one visual feed. 🗺️ Your Personal Food Map: Build a shareable profile and map of your all-time favorite plates to send to friends when they ask for recommendations. I started seeding the map right here in Minneapolis & St. Paul, and it’s completely open for anyone anywhere to start mapping their city's best plates and recipes. I’d love your feedback on the UX and the map flow—and tell me in the comments: What is one specific 5/5 dish in your city that everyone needs to order at least once?
