Can AI actually help you improve at golf — or does it just give you more data?

by

This is one of the questions we've been thinking about a lot while building BirdieSense.

Golfers already have access to more data than ever: ball speed, launch angle, spin, carry distance, swing videos, GPS data and more.

But more data doesn't necessarily mean better practice.

The problem we became obsessed with was the layer between measurement and improvement.

If AI can see both what happened to the ball and what happened in your swing, remember patterns across multiple practice sessions, and understand what you've already been working on — could it actually help decide what you should focus on next?

We don't think AI should replace a great golf coach. But most golfers don't have a coach standing beside them for every range session.

That's the space we're exploring with BirdieSense.

Curious what people here think:

What would an AI sports companion have to understand about you before you'd actually trust its advice?
