The most useful AI agents aren't replacing jobs...they're replacing forgotten work

When people talk about AI agents, the examples are usually huge:

• replacing customer support

• replacing developers

• replacing marketers

But after talking to teams building with agents, I've noticed something different.

The biggest wins don't come from replacing a person's primary job.

They come from replacing the work that nobody remembers to do.

Things like:

• checking dashboards every morning

• following up on leads that went cold

• cleaning CRM records

• generating weekly reports

• monitoring APIs for failures

• organizing files

• updating documentation after deployments

None of these tasks are particularly difficult.

They're just repetitive enough that they either get forgotten or consume more time than they should.

Ironically, these "boring" workflows often deliver more consistent value than ambitious autonomous agents trying to do everything.
