How Can Online Property Search Become More Trustworthy? Lessons From Building AR Empires

Buying property online has a strange problem: the easier it becomes to discover listings, the harder it becomes to know what information you should actually trust.

While building AR Empires, we originally thought property search was mainly a discovery problem.

Better filters. More locations. More listings.

But the deeper we went, the more obvious something else became:

Discovery is only useful when a buyer knows what to verify next.

A beautiful property page cannot tell you whether a listing is still available.

A professional profile cannot guarantee that every claim made by the advertiser is correct.

A displayed asking price may change.

And a “verified” signal should never convince someone to skip independent property, identity, document or payment checks.

That changed how we think about building AR Empires.

Instead of trying to make users contact an agent as quickly as possible, we want the journey to make sense before that contact happens.

Users can search available properties, review the complete listing, save suitable options, compare properties side by side, inspect agent or agency profiles and then contact the relevant property professional.

But product features alone are not enough.

We believe property marketplaces need to set clearer expectations around what the platform verifies, what the listing contributor is responsible for, and what the buyer still needs to check independently.

That may sound less exciting than saying “every listing is completely safe.”

But in real estate, transparency may be a better product feature than confidence we cannot prove.

This is one of the biggest lessons we have learned while building AR Empires.

And I would love Product Hunt's perspective on one question:

If you were buying a property in another country, what ONE trust signal would make the biggest difference before you contacted the seller or agent?

• Verified identity?

• Recent listing-status confirmation?

• Property-document information?

• Agent reviews?

• Transaction history?

• Something else entirely?
