Anvil - A privacy-first reading journal with meta-cognitive prompts
byβ’
Anvil is a minimalist reading journal that helps you actually remember what you read.
Unlike traditional note-taking apps, Anvil uses 4 meta-cognitive prompts after each reading session:
Core Idea - What concept challenged you?
Resonance - Why did it matter to you?
Challenge - How does it connect to past reading?
Action - What will you do this week?
100% privacy-first: All your thoughts stay on your device. No cloud sync, no AI training, no data collection. Your reading journal is truly yours.

Hi Hunters! π
Iβm Kavan, a Product Analyst and student living in a hostel in Bengaluru.
I built Anvil because I was reading 80+ books a year but forgetting almost everything a month later. I tried other journaling apps, but they were either too complex or trying to use AI to summarize everything for me. I didn't want a summary; I wanted to think.
So, I built Anvil from my hostel bed.
Itβs a "Gym for your Brain"βno AI shortcuts, just meta-cognitive prompts to help you retain what you read.

I built this with Flutter and a lot of late-night coffee. I would love your feedback on the concept and the UI!
Let me know what you think! π
