Building Affordex: a simple way to understand real take-home pay

We’re launching Affordex tomorrow, and I wanted to share what we’re building before launch day.

Affordex is a salary and tax calculator platform designed to help people understand their real take-home pay after tax.

Most salary conversations start with gross income, but real-life financial decisions depend on how much money someone actually keeps each month, week, or day.

Our first tool is focused on Australia. It helps users estimate:

• annual take-home pay

• monthly, weekly, and daily income

• income tax

• Medicare levy

• superannuation

The long-term vision is to build a calculator-first platform for practical financial and cost-of-living questions across different countries.

We’d love early feedback on:

• Is the calculator result easy to understand?

• What information should be clearer?

• Which country or calculator should we support next?
