Prequel is a Mac screen recorder that puts the cinematic zooms in while you record, following your cursor and your clicks the way an editor would move a camera. Backgrounds, padding, rounded corners and a webcam bubble that doesn't look stuck on, all native on Apple Silicon. Musthaq Ahamad built it because showing off a forty-second clip used to mean dragging the file into After Effects, keyframing the zooms by hand and fighting the timeline for an hour, and he wanted the demo to look like he had a motion designer on call.

Retro Y2K Theme is a browser extension that drops any modern website back into 1999: Comic Sans body text, Impact headings, Windows 98 buttons, CRT scanlines and a starfield behind the lot of it. There's a marquee banner with a live visitor odometer, an Under Construction sign and a guestbook you can sign. Your first visit plays the 56.6 Kbps dial-up sequence, a popup tells you you're the 1,000,000th visitor, a MIDI chiptune synth runs in the background and fairy dust follows your cursor, and every one of those can be switched off on its own.

Caplio is a Mac app that makes your screenshots searchable, reading the text inside every image so you can find the one you want by what it actually said. You point it at the folders you already use and it builds a visual timeline you can filter by date or category. R Aghababa built it because he was screenshotting things constantly and could never find them again, and once you've turned one up you drag it straight out of Caplio into whatever app you're in, with the OCR and the indexing running on your own machine.
