A macOS screen recorder that hands back a finished video. Zooms that follow the work, a framed camera and a background, exported at up to 4K on your Mac's own media engine.
Hey Hunters 👋
I build things, and every time I wanted to show one off, the recording was the hard part. A raw screen capture looks flat, no depth, no focus, no sense of where to look. So I'd drag the file into After Effects, keyframe zooms by hand, fight with the timeline for an hour, and end up with a 40-second clip that still didn't feel quite right. For a 40-second clip.
That's a ridiculous tax on shipping. Most of us don't have a motion designer on call — we just want the demo to look like we do.
Prequel is what I wanted to exist. Record your screen, and the cinematic zooms are already there, it follows your cursor and your clicks, so the camera moves the way a good editor would move it. Backgrounds, padding, rounded corners, a camera bubble that doesn't look glued on. All native on Apple Silicon, so it's fast and the exports are sharp.
No After Effects. No keyframes. No plugin stack. Just a recording that looks like you spent the afternoon on it.
Would love your feedback, especially on what's still missing for your workflow. I'm here all day. 🙏

Super cool app! The UI looks crazy good, How are you differentiating yourself in this space?
@abhiigatty Thanks! Prequel gives you fine grained control over the timeline, layouts and zoom effects. It also, auto animates between cuts and scenes with 60FPS, which most of the other apps lacks.

Really nice product, it would be nice to have an additional payment option to OneTimePayment for a lifetime subscription, as for example I myself do not make mockup demo/production videos every month so a monthly subscription wouldn't make sense, but a lifetime would allow me to use the software three/four times a year consistently.
@ambx Not yet, but we are adding it soon! We already have an auto edit which by default edits your videos post recording.

Nothing humbles you like recording a two-minute demo and somehow spending 30 minutes cleaning it up afterward haha. Love anything that gets me to the finished video faster. Nice work guys, congrats on the launch! @haxzie

the phrase that carries your whole pitch is zooms that follow the work, becuase the cheap version of that is zooms that follow the cursor, and those two are only the same thing about half the time. the case that breaks it is exactly the one you want in a demo: you click something in one corner and the result appears somewhere else. i do that dozens of times a day, hit submit, and the thing worth showing is the state change further up the page, not the button. a cursor tracker parks on the button and the viewer misses the payoff. if youre already weighting on screen change rather than pointer position, id say that out loud on the page, becuase everyone in this category says cinematic and nobody says what actually drives the camera. separate small one. does it export at an integer scale from native points? retina capture downscaled by a non integer factor is where text goes soft, and thats the difference between a demo that reads as a product and one that reads as a screen recording.

@xarlizard Makes sense, can add a lifetime free one-time payment as well.

@xarlizard I wouldn’t be too hasty on a lifetime option. Just a thought. Google it. App looks awesome btw.

Zooms that follow the work is the bit people hand-keyframe and give up on. Does it decide from cursor movement or from what changed on screen?
Supademo
super cool, can we edit videos using text prompts?
