Would you launch a SaaS without having a paid plan available yet?

We have an MVP and want to offer it for free to test out features. I see that most of the launches on PH offer paid plans already. What do you guys think?

Launching a SaaS without a paid plan initially allows focus on user acquisition, gathering feedback, and refining the product based on user insights. It helps in shaping a more targeted and valuable paid offering tailored to meet customer needs effectively.

Make the premium version free for the first 100 users or so. Notion did this a few years back and was successful.

Yes, that can be really helpful to get the feedback, see how users use your solution in reality, etc. For our launch we had a free version that gives everything user needs

@oxana_ivanova did you offer a free version as well as a paid one or just the free one?

I would find some way to offer a paid plan, even if it is minimal. The best feedback comes from paying customers.

Why not? I can't see a significant disadvantage.

Hey Man, my personal preference is to have a paid plan available. I would always launch with a complete and functional product.

@istiakahmad interesting! How do you know which features should be free and which paid?

It’s a completely different skin in the game btw when someone pays :)

I think need to know what's customer you focus, If It's expensive for you get customers,at the same time, no paid plan, maybe will die

Launching soon!
Launching a SaaS product without having a paid plan available yet is definitely a valid approach, especially if you want to gather feedback and test out features with an MVP. Offering it for free can help you attract early adopters and build a user base. While it's true that many launches on Product Hunt offer paid plans from the start, there's no one-size-fits-all approach. It ultimately depends on your specific goals and the needs of your target audience. If offering a free version aligns with your strategy for gaining traction and refining your product based on user feedback, then it could be a great way to go. Remember, every product launch is unique, so do what feels right for your SaaS offering.

Yes, to gather user feedback and validate the product, then introduce a paid plan based on insights and user needs.
