What makes directories truly valuable?

I am working on one and often end up myself asking - what will be the biggest value I can give to my user? Will it be the number of tools, or filters, or reviews..?

The biggest value to provide to your users depends on specific needs and pain points. Factors like user interface, customizatiom, and integration will all contribute to the value of the product
