Meetings are a crucial part of our work life. If you're a manager, you tend to spend hours every day on virtual meetings. Would love to ask the PH community about their major challenges with meetings.

Most meetings are not set for actual collaboration, but one-sided updates, alignments, sharing info. All of which could've been done with an email. Or even better - with a VoiceLine ;)

@fantivecreations it sounds like VoiceLine + http://sesh.com/ would solve both of these problems!

In tira.so we limit meetings. If a meeting can be a message, weโ€™ll send the message. Unnecessary meetings are a massive waste of time. At Tira, we only have meetings when itโ€™s an absolute necessity. For example, the marketing team has one set meeting a week to plan marketing activities and align on projects. Having meetings any more frequently than this would almost certainly be a waste of time for us. We keep the meetings short and straight to the point so that we can get back to working on our tasks. Time is of the essence and we do everything to avoid wasting it.๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ™Œ

@karolina3 that sounds like a great practice - how do you keep track of your agenda and meeting outcomes?
Aruna Chawla (she/her)
Meetings set for sharing updates / reviewing work (can be done async).

@arunachawla perfectly said, there are now checkin tools that are trying to decrease the need for meeting. would be interesting to check them out.

We did a recent analysis on how many productive hours teams are wasting on meetings and the results were shocking. We are now building an asynchronous tool that helps automates daily and weekly meetings to ensure more productivity.

The way meetings are currently run is SO UNPRODUCTIVE: 1. This meeting could have been an email (like you mentioned) 2. People don't come PREPARED (they haven't completed their tasks / don't have the necessary discussion material) - due to lack of accountability / clarity 3. REPETITION OF POINTS (because of lack of documentation / accountability) 4. MISALIGNMENT on meetings 5. FRAGMENTATION of meeting notes (across email / task mgmt / personal notetaking apps) - no one source of truth I'm actually building something to solve for this! Have closed beta launch in a few weeks if you're interested! https://www.arrowhead.live/
