What are the signs that a startup founder needs to pivot?

I have seen so many pivots that have been successful and unsuccessful. But I don't believe in binary outcomes and hence I would love to know what you think are the signs that a startup needs to deviate from its preconceived path?

Lack of engagement from the founder's community around the future project + enthusiasm of this community revolving more around one side feature of the product than the core characteristics

Usually founders know deep inside it's not working, but care too much about things that don't actually matter.
