I'm in the Web3 industry and when I talk to friends and family is very hard to explain what it is, its benefits, and its use cases. What are the misconceptions about Web3? Why do you think is so difficult to explain?

I’m in the health industry and in my understanding is that web3 applies mainly to crypto, metaverse and NFTs. However, I think that is a misconception. Web3 should be available with any use case for any industry. Is that right? Would love to know if there is any use case of blockchain in health industry: medicine, physiotherapy, etc

@silvia_rivera1 Thanks for that comment! and is true. The Web3 should be accessible for any industry and I'm sure in the short/mid-term we will start seeing more cases of Healthcare companies in Web3. To make it simple: Web3 would be the next generation of the internet like Metaverse, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality. Many companies that are entering the Web3 are using Blockchain technology. To simplify the Blockchain: is a coding language that is more secure but also more complex. The potential utility of Web3 for Healthcare would be a platform using virtual reality for those doctors that want to see patients in a more real way but at a distance. In physiotherapy could be physios guiding patients through virtual reality when they can't leave home or have terminal deceases. In both industries, the use of blockchain could lead to secure patient information in a more secure infrastructure. We are now seeing how many hackers are stealing patients' medical histories and asking for money to give them back. Blockchain is still complex but in the future, that could be a form of avoiding data leaking.

@silvia_rivera1 Unquestionably! By delivering safe and transparent data management solutions, blockchain technology has the potential to transform the health business. For example, we can develop secure operations and automation for medical records, clinical trials, and supply chain management using our Private key management protocol based on MPC-TSS technology. This keeps patient data secure and tamper-proof while still allowing healthcare practitioners to access correct and up-to-date information. Additionally, blockchain technology can help with the tracking and authentication of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other healthcare products, lowering the risk of fake or poor-quality goods entering the market. The possibilities are limitless, and we're thrilled to be at the forefront of this advancement!

At a time when Fake accounts or Generative AI are becoming prevalent, I think Web3 could give content generators the ability to provide proof of origin so their work can be attributed correctly. However, there is a misconception that this is technically too difficult to do.

@mark_murray123 good example but not a misconception that it is technically too difficult. But then again what is difficult. Do you know how the bits and bytes and the binary code works allowing you to view and write on PH? I’m quite confident you don’t (no offence) ;) The problem with web3 is that we are throwing away a lot of the good stuff that we take for granted in web2. 4 decades of software evolution and now we are now coming to a point saying “hey some of that good stuff has got to go because we have a better way to do something”. Think of mobility being horse and cart and we are now tinkering with the first form of the combustion engine being around the corner. Seemingly simple and intuitive UX is built on years of research and complicated innovation.

In my opinion the misconception exist because “regular” people (meaning people that doesn’t work in this business) can’t see the impact of Web3 in their day to day life; it’s yet an intangible concept difficult to explain in “easy” words. When and how do you think we’ll see the Web3 applied in our daily live?

@umberto_trainer Thanks for that comment! You are right. We are still far from seeing real implications in day-to-day life but in the same way, AI just disrupted the market we will see how Blockchain will disrupt the industries. To make it simple: Web3 would be the next generation of the internet like Metaverse, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality. Many companies that are entering the Web3 are using Blockchain technology. To simplify the Blockchain: is a coding language that is more secure but also more complex. @umberto_trainer I absolutely agree that Web3 can appear to those outside the business as an abstract concept. 🔬 However, with the rise of blockchain-based solutions such as Ethereum, AAVE, Polygon, Tookey, and others, we're already seeing Web3's potential to revolutionize everyday life. 🚀🔥 The options are endless, ranging from secure and decentralized financial transactions to automated supply chain management. 💊 As a greater number of firms and individuals use blockchain technology, the influence of Web3 will become more real and accessible to everybody.

One of the most common misconceptions about Web3 is that it is simply another term or trend. I think Web3 marks a significant transformation in the way we connect with the internet and with one another. It's challenging to describe because it necessitates a thorough knowledge of encryption, decentralized systems, and the possibility of a more democratic and transparent future. However, once you understand Web3, you will never look at the internet the same way again ;) What do you think?

@vasiliy_shilov I Agree 100%. But there must be a way of explaining it in a simple way without the need of going into the technicals and I think, once we create more relatable products for the day-to-day use of people (non-technical people) will help to democratize the term and its benefits.
Vasiliy Shilov
@andres_rivera3 Ah, I couldn't agree more! As a blockchain specialist, I sometimes forget that not everyone speaks in code and technical jargon. But fear not, my friend! The beauty of blockchain technology is that it can be applied to so many different industries and use cases, from supply chain management to voting systems. And with the development of more user-friendly products, we can make the benefits of blockchain accessible to everyone, even your grandma who still uses a flip phone. So let's keep pushing for innovation and simplicity in the blockchain world, and who knows, maybe one day we'll all be using blockchain without even realizing it!

1) - "What are the misconceptions about Web3?" One of the most common misconceptions regarding Web3 is that it is simply a new term for blockchain. In actuality, Web3 represents an evolutionary shift toward a decentralized internet in which individuals manage their own information and interactions. 2) - "Why do you think is so difficult to explain?" This can be challenging to explain because it necessitates a basic understanding of blockchain technology and its ability to transform the way we interact online. However, with the right education and tools, we can empower individuals and businesses to take advantage of the benefits of Web3 and create a more secure and transparent digital future. DO YOU agree with this, let me know?!

I think the misconceptions about Web3 is that for the regular people (non Tech) there isn’t simple information for them to understand it or see an application on how they can use or benefit from it. New tech need to be accessible to the masses
Tim Dierckxsens
Web3 is not hard to explain but hard to understand, mainly because concepts are thrown around and mixed up. There are easy ways to explain Web3 by visualizing these concepts and the relationships they have with each other. For example, misconception Web3 == Blockchain or Blockchain == Crypto. If you do some googling, you can quickly identify that blockchain is a component of Web3 and a cryptocurrency is a use case for Web3. The problem with understanding Web3 is that it requires conceptual thinking, where most people want to know how things work. Conceptual thinking is a great building block to develop the understanding of complex ideas and systems so instead of getting paralysed on "how" something works think about "why" it's useful. As an analogy. Who can explain how a computer actually works technically vs the application of the computer.
