Twitter has gone open source - is this a good or bad thing?

Most of Twitter’s recommendation algorithm has been made open source today. Ever Elon Musk’s taken over Twitter and with the introduction of Twitter Blue, it has felt like there have been a lot of unexplained changes for users, so good to see a step in the right direction for transparency. As someone working in the social media space, I’m curious to hear thoughts on whether there were any downsides to making the source code freely available? Or do the upsides outweigh the risks?

Bad. Programmers will hack it and build bots to dominate everything in short time. I am more iinterested in Mastodon now.

@simplytedel That was my thought too.. interested to see how users will find Mastodon's decentralised structure and how the growth compares to the other social media giants!
