Should I build it?

I was thinking of building an in-app messaging as a service. Kinda similar to what whatsapp does as an app - groups, user-user conversations etc., But instead of a seperate app, I wanna provide an in-app solution which you can embed in your app. Pain points - mentions, realtime, messages, notifications, photos, voice, maybe video too. etc., Is there scope for this? I see a few products in this space but it seems like either their pricing is not transparent or they charge a fortune. Let me know your thoughts!!! All comments are appreciated :)

It sounds pretty cool if you can implement this and launch on PH. Please let me know, I'll be glad to take a look.

@ixord Thanks Igor. I'm pretty much inclined to build it at this point. I'll do a bit more research and try other options and get to building this soon.

Absolutely, Yeshwanth! If your idea solves a real problem or fills a gap in the market, then it's definitely worth pursuing.

@zijian While it does solve a problem I'm not sure of the market. But I'm more inclined to build it as it sounds interesting and there are very few products of similar type. I guess none of them are by an indie hacker :)

Absolutely, Yeshwanth! If you're passionate about your idea and have done your homework on its potential impact and audience, there's no better time to start building it than now.

@ryan_motiff to be honest I'm not really sure of the audience. although the impact would be huge if someone choose to use it but I'm not sure of who they are or how to reach them.

Yeshwanth this is an awesome idea, at least in my opinion! Before developing though you might want to just make a Figma prototype as an example, fire out some cold emails, and validate the idea through a waitlist before spending a ton of time developing it.

@yukioyama I was thinking rather than a plain prototype. I'll start with launching with just basic text and add features from there on with users and enthusiasts on board.

Its a very good thing you should launch it

Sounds cool. Ask yourself this, what if whatsapp pushes all those features you just mentioned to their app too? Will you still be in business?

@omosayansii Whatsapp is a different model altogether and serves a different purpose to a different set of users. I don't think I conflict with Whatsapp. If it's about competitors there are a few already (pretty big names too).
