Hey there! I believe capturing code from screenshots could be a tremendous step forward in coding productivity, particularly when dealing with complex systems and lengthy code segments. However, the true value lies in how accurately and consistently it functions - it's more than just a cool feature if it genuinely saves developers time and reduces errors. πŸš€πŸ§©

@monoshitsu1974 Hey Dale! That's fantastic that you see the value in accurate code capture from screenshots for improving productivity. I'd love to know if you're currently using any specific tool or method for this? Just to share, I work at Pieces.app and we're building Pieces for Developers. We've developed a suite of AI-powered tools, optimized for managing code snippets across the web, IDEs, and collaboration platforms. A significant feature is our OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tech, which can capture and convert code from screenshots into editable text with impressive accuracy. We are preparing for our Product Hunt launch and are keen to gather as much feedback as possible. It's completely free, so do give it a spin when you have some time and let us know what you think. Your insights would be extremely valuable to us. πŸš€πŸ§©

I couldn't agree more! The idea of capturing code from screenshots directly is fascinating. It has the potential to streamline our workflow and save valuable time. It's an innovative concept that could be the next frontier in coding productivity if executed well. We should also consider the challenges it may present, such as accuracy and compatibility with different programming languages and styles.

@priyanka_pahari1 Hey Priyanka! It's great to hear that you see the potential in code capturing from screenshots. You're spot on about the importance of accuracy and compatibility with various programming languages and styles. In the interest of full disclosure, I work at Pieces.app and we're building Pieces for Developers. We've precisely addressed these challenges with a suite of AI-powered tools. A key feature is our state-of-the-art OCR technology, designed to capture and convert code from screenshots into editable text with high accuracy across different programming languages. We're about to launch on Product Hunt and we're gathering as much feedback as we can. I'd love if you could give it a try and share your thoughts. Your feedback could be instrumental in shaping the next frontier in coding productivity. πŸš€πŸ§©

@priyanka_pahari1 @masnwilliams this in app would be absolutely amazing i was thinking about this for a long time as well i just didn't have the skill set to build it yet. but please keep us updated when you release thank you!
Mason Williams
@the_fig Hey Anthony! We actually already have this tech built into our app! Check it out here: https://pieces.app You can check out our recent Product Hunt release here: https://www.producthunt.com/post...

Can you tell me the use case? I m not sure I quite understand where there us a screenshot but you have no access to code. Lemme guess, it is for CIA coders
Anthony Figueroa
@volcohara the way i was thinking of it was if you seen like a html page you like you take a snap of it and the the coder will break it down in html for you thats just 1 example. idk anything about the cia coder stuff your talking lol
Mason Williams
@volcohara @the_fig A great example of this is when you're watching a YouTube video of a coding tutorial. You see the code on your screen but don't want to write it all out manually. So now you can simply take a screenshot of the paused video, paste that into Pieces for Developers, and we will automatically convert that to actual code with adding context!
Takeshi [ @Bootstraptor ]
@volcohara @the_fig @masnwilliams it would be very helpful with a video! however, you need to think about how you will copy the entire code, since usually the video only shows part of the code on this screen when paused and you have to take several screenshots and then glue them together somehow?

While we're not quite in science fiction territory yet, advances in AI have made significant strides in converting screenshots to code, making it an exciting reality that promises to revolutionize the way we design and develop web pages in the near future!

You can upload screenshot in bing chat and get the basic html and css

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there are tools and technologies that offer varying degrees of automated code generation from design mockups. Some of these tools use machine learning and AI to analyze design elements and create corresponding code snippets chiropractor rome, ga. However, they are not yet able to fully convert complex designs into production-ready code without human intervention. Advancements in AI and Design: Advancements in machine learning and computer vision have improved the feasibility of turning design mockups into code. Some tools can recognize design components, such as buttons, forms, and layouts, and generate corresponding HTML, CSS, or even JavaScript code.

Not Screenshot to Code, but Screenshot to Actual UI Design (like Figma) is pretty cool IMO. You can tweak the look and feel of the screenshot, add a logo, change the headline,...etc with ease. The best output I got from those is from Visily.AI thus far

Launching soon!
I think many of these no-code platforms are toast after this goes mainstream. Prompt coding + Prompt designing. Goodbye framer and webflow.
Matteo Mirabelli
there are already tools able to create code from design :)
Muhammadreza Haghiri
I guess it currently is possible to some extent. But It'll become a reality in a few years.
