Which one do you mostly use in your communications with clients?

I believe it depends on the stage. I don't think templates are a good choice for those who have just started. Currently, we use email communication to inform all interested parties about what we are doing, our traction, and our future plans. It seems logical to send these updates as personal emails from the founders. In the later stages, we will revise this approach, along with a new content plan, new goals, and, consequently, the use of templates.

@mary_rumyantzeva I guess that's a very wise method! We've also started sending out templates that look almost like plain text but on a different level (with a proper logo and email footer)

@mary_rumyantzeva you're welcome! if you're searching for a convenient tool to craft such elevated emails, try out Blocks, it's free to use and comes with plenty of ready-made templates! https://useblocks.io/

When starting and validation idea there is no need to focus on fancy email templates, plain text will be enough. Later on if you have time and resources to do them its the right time to do them :D
Darya Antonyuk
@pobidowski good point! It's also a nice idea to just build an email template and simply edit it for future campaigns / create custom blocks that you use from one campaign to another and save them for future. Blocks allows you to do that for free, check it out!)

Plain text but short one.
Darya Antonyuk
@aarav_krishna nice option, how does this work for you?
Steve Lou
When you're early stage, it should be plain text as it provides trust. Email templates are great for newsletters when you've reached a certain size.
Darya Antonyuk
@steve_lourdessamy totally agree! unfortunately there are so many generic emails nowadays that plain text doesn't build trust in some cases
Shivangi Awasthi
Email templates work like magnets. Trust me!
Darya Antonyuk
@shivangiawasthi I'm in favour of templates too! What tools do you use to create them?
Olaf
personal texts usually provide better results/conversions.

@swadin I'm in favour of templates too! What tools do you use to create them?
Robert Mills
Plain text emails are more readable. Not all email clients support HTML, so some recipients may not be able to see the images or other formatting in your HTML emails. Plain text emails, on the other hand, are always readable, regardless of the email client.
Darya Antonyuk
@robert_mills agreed, but when it comes to interacting with huge numbers of clients, plain text is not always enough. Don't mean outreaching to potential customers, of course

@robert_mills @darya_antonyuk I think a little bit of branding and design might be able to help your email stand out and not be so flashy at the same time!

Roughly 15% of the revenue of the mobile apps I manage comes from email campaigns - email is free subscription revenue on the table. It's great. My learnings: Plain text has always been better. People buy from people they know / like / trust. Use your name. Even better use THEIR name. Be cool / clever / funny. Write emails that add value / give free advice on your niche in between discounts/promotion offers. Shaan Puri, Cardinal Mason, Chase Diamond - great email marketers who do all of the above.

@dilawaiz_qasaim awesome! what tools do you usually use for making them?
Rose Linda
Plain text is very easy to type
Ritu Soni
I will be honest, I have been sending plain texts when people purchase our subscriptions because it needs to be done manually (not yet automated) but for newsletters we use templates and I think that's fine. Depends really.
Darya Antonyuk
@ritu_soni I think that's a really nice combination if the process is not automated! do you craft templates from scratch for your newsletters?
Eva Consuegra
To scale your email program, you need to be able to move quickly, but you also need to be able to repeat successful emails easily. Once you find a formula that works, don’t overthink things — keep using that formula! And the best way to duplicate the formula is to use a template. After you find a successful combination of content and style, create a template to easily sub in new content, and ride the wave of email success!! Check some free templates https://www.figma.com/@cannoli and check our PH https://www.producthunt.com/prod...
Darya Antonyuk
@eva_consuegra yeah, I'm also on the side of templates. Blocks (our no-code email builder) comes with plenty of free email templates too! check it out

It depends on what stage you are currently in, Plain text works best in the beginning.

i've helped a lot of my clients set up automated evergreen email flows and campaigns and most of the time I don't care about the design Especially in the beginning if your SaaS is doing less than $10k/mo You don't usually need all these design emails which might take a lot more work instead you can focus on the quality of the email copy which is more of a deciding factor! but if you want you can add a little bit of branding to make it look less bland and vanilla!
