What's the best approach to starting a company as a solo founder? For a person that has a great idea but didn't go to an IVY League school and doesn't have friends/family that are interested in starting a company?

A company doesn't make a product, a product makes a company. Find/make a product to sell ... and sell it until not having an official company becomes an issue ... that's when you strart a company and usually by then you'll have the resources to do so.
