Isn't getting paid upvote illegal?

Question

I got reached ( over email ) by someone promising grunted top product with 400 upvotes.

Isn't using things like this against the platform policy. This also raises concerns on getting an honest rank when someone could buy there way in.

That's certainly against the Product Hunt terms, yes. But I wouldn't say it's illegal, though I'm not a lawyer, and wtf, could be illegal in some country, who knows. Not legal advice :D

this needs to be reported! A lot of users openly sell these services on Product Hunt, brings out inauthentic products to top!
