Is paid marketing on platforms like FB and Instagram going downhill?

I know we are all here on PH to connect with our potential users and fans. However, I'm curious if paid marketing on platforms like Facebook is losing popularity. People are complaining that it costs a lot and doesn't give them good ROI. Has anyone changed their mind about using one of those paid marketing platforms? Was there anything that motivated you to do this?

I’d say that some of my friends have managed to get leads out of successful campaigns that included FB as a part of a strategy. You know those platforms are not sexy as they were decade ago but they are working. PH is a nice buzz that might help to raise awareness but that’s all

@nadenade @imjohnkoo Paid marketing is definitely underperforming, because they only have so much advertising space available and you are fighting with a massive competition that has bigger budget essentially. We are running paid marketing for our product and it's definitely helping us to bring in new leads, but you need to have the budget to allow it and the time to constantly optimise it. I believe as part of a bigger marketing strategy it works really well. Hope this helped!

@nadenade, thanks for sharing! Some years ago, I heard a lot about paid marketing, and it sounded like the GTM for any business, but now I see a lot of articles about paid marketing underperforming. Looking forward to seeing how the industry changes.
