Hunters, Managing social media is essential for indiehackers, marketers, and creators today. It's important not only to build a strong brand, but also to test your idea and build something the users will find useful. No one can overemphasize the importance of managing your social media accounts. I run Twitter, IG, PH, Reddit, and LinkedIn, and it takes at least a few hours to create content and engage with people. Which social media channel do you use most? How much time do you spend a day?

We have a couple of great and aspiring associates helping us do the dark social game, it generates us a couple of meetings per month with a cost of approximately $100 per meet.
John Koo
@amal_abdullaev so basically you are spending $200~300 per month and then salary of the associates. what media channel do you think works best for your company?
Giannis Kiokpas

@ikiok You prioritise just a few social media platforms? How do you decide that?
Giannis Kiokpas
@pm_optimizer depending on where the engagement is! For example, we are "strong" on Linkedin right now, but not so much at Twitter, therefor Twitter would not be prioritized that much (for now of course)
John Koo
@ikiok yea, it seems i'm spending more time than it requires. it needs to be optimized.

@ikiok That makes sense. What do you consider engagement? Some activity directly on your posts on your profile or some other activity in communities or replies to your tweets to other people? :)
Giannis Kiokpas
@pm_optimizer well, a little bit of both! although, communities always give broader exposure!

I agree John it's an essential part of our job and something that has to be done daily. I'm mainly on PH, Linkedin, Twitter and Indie Hacker. I spend about an hour a day on communities.
John Koo
@mehdi_rifai wow. you are covering many media. which one works the best for you among those four channels?
Mehdi Rifai
@imjohnkoo Linkedin and PH are the ones where it's easier to interact. I love Indie Hacker because you find many like-minded founders. Twitter not so successful for now

@edworking How is the 4h a day paying off? That sounds like a lot of time!
John Koo
@edworking wow are you managing it by yourself? or do you have someone to do the job?
David Cagigas
@imjohnkoo I am doing it myself with the help of some tools!
John Koo
@edworking awesome! It must be hectic to manage all by yourself. What tools do you use? Any recommendation for us?
Won Park

As a former builder, I would say that when it comes to content creation, there is always room for improvement. However, in today's world, social media platforms provide greater traction than they did 10 years ago. Despite this, the rule of spending 50% of your time on content creation and 50% on promotion still applies.

I use social media mostly to leave valuable be promotional comments If you're a small fish, it pays to use quantity rather than quality to your advantage. For evoke-app.com, I frequent, twitter, reddit, indiehackers, and product hunt
John Koo
@richard_gao2 Agreed! Quantity can still be effective for small businesses on social media. Which platform works the best for you?
Heleana Grace
For now, I focus my energy on Twitter, PH, and LinkedIn. I try to do a couple of hours every day but sometimes it takes longer, depending on how many content ideas I have and how many people I wish to interact with it. I try not to let it take up my entire day though since we do have other projects to focus on. But it definitely feels like a full-time job sometimes.
John Koo
@heleana Where do you spend the most time? on creating contents? or engaging with others?
Vipin Sah
about 3 hours every day...
Oxana
Hi John, social media is so important but seems it requires the help of professionals, at least for me 😁 I do spend an hour or so on daily basis, but I think it's not enough, really. I feel the pain when I need to create some marketing texts, cause I want them to be really valuable for the target users and not just be loud. Am I doing it wrong?
John Koo
@oxana_ivanova Have you tried AI tools that generates drafts for your contents? it might come in handy for you.
Oxana
@imjohnkoo yeah, the only thing is that I like to talk to REAL eople and get real users involved, but they can be a great help for drafts probably, discovering them now!

A few dedicated hours in the morning to research and create content for the day. And then following up on each channel throughout the day. So easily 3-4 hours daily since I’m doing it by myself
John Koo
@aignise which channel are you focusing on? are you managing multiple channels at the same time?
