How long will it be until quantum computing becomes useful?

Quantum computers have been mathematically proven to be able to solve algorithms that can't be solved in polynomial time by classical computers, e.g. Shor’s algorithm. However, given the size and stability of quantum processors today, they can't really solve any useful problems. When do you think quantum computers will actually be useful for a problem that anyone actually cares about?

I came to ask basically the same question. Given your expertise in a quantum company do you have any insider info that would help give some framing to this question? Have you seen anything in recent months that's showing the direction? And where should someone junior in the industry go to learn more and keep up to date?
