How important is it to launch a product with a "Try Now" component?

Do you find that having a chance to see the product live before you create an account is useful? Even for a Freemium product where there's a free trial anyway?

Great topic. I personally think it depends on the content/offerings leading the user to the sign up flow. If you can capture and communicate exactly what your product is (and does) then you can avoid the free trial. Users want to ensure its a quality product before purchasing, whether this comes from hands on (Try Now), real social proof, or superior content. On the other hand, who doesn't love a free trial?

@chrislester Thanks Chris and yeah we've implemented both a Try Now for one video creation before account creation and then the free trial for an additional 5 video credits. So far it seems like that's working well.

Trying a product before launching is very important, so you know whether this product is worth using and whether it is worth buying premium.
