Hi everyone, I'm Henry York, co-founder of https://Monica.im. This is my 7th day of signing up for PH . On March 1st, on the first day of the closed beta of our product, I was invited by my hunter Luo Baishun to register for Product Hunt. On March 5, I, who had never done a product launch, made my first product launch. First of all, let me post my transcript so far: 1. 🚀 Win Product of the day 2nd badge 2. 📈 Our user growth tripled, from a few hundred a day before launch to more than a thousand after launch Here, I would like to share some of the tips for launch, hoping to help more product makers. 1. Date matters This is Luo Baishun's first suggestion to me. Although the product hunt from Monday to Friday has more active users and it is easier to get more upvotes, the competition is very fierce. It is not easy to get the product of the day badge. Therefore, Saturday and Sunday are a good time to sprint to the top of the list. I chose Sunday as the launch day, mainly because I only started preparing on Thursday, and Saturday was too rushed. 2. Make beautiful covers The cover image with bright colors and exquisite layout can make users feel whether the product maker is attentive enough the first time they open the product page. Also, it is important to ensure that the cover image can display text clearly even in thumbnail mode. I think many users may not be accustomed to opening images one by one for browsing. If there is enough time, you can also use GIFs as cover images to help users understand the product. I modified at least 4 versions of the cover image, and finally selected the current plan, which is enough to catch the eye. 3. Tagline, less is more At first, I prepared several taglines, trying to explain the functions clearly in them. Luo's suggestion is that taglines only need to emphasize product positioning or core value, less is more. Taglines are very important. They can arouse the curiosity of viewers and attract them to click on your product, so emphasizing value without being verbose can maximize the reader's curiosity. 4. Make product logo more vivid Product Hunt's product logo supports Gif format. This may be easy to overlook for the first-time maker. Monica's product logo is very suitable for making a more dynamic emoji logo. If I could do this step earlier, I believe everyone would like Monica more. Gif can make the product image more vivid and intimate. 5. A youtube video For this launch, I specially made a product demo video, and found a friend who specializes in dubbing to dub. This video took me 9 hours to make (this was my first time learning to make a product demo video, and there still are so many flaws). Here is some data. When I got 0 to 282 upvotes, the video was played 40 times. Obviously, most users didn't watch the video, but I believe that the video still plays a very important educational role for those users who really care about your product. 6. Engage actively with reviewers Whether it is good or bad, be sincere and patient, and reply to every user's comment. 7. Embed product badge on your own website Your users are your most loyal supporters. According to Luo's experience, the users on Product Hunt and the users you gather from your own channel may each account for 50% of the upvotes. 8. Keep launching and keep sharing A product can be released several times during its iteration. So, keep polishing your product and keep launching , which contributes to building your own reputation in the community. Sharing your own experiences can also help with this. 9. The most important thing Having a good hunter like Luo Baishun, who provided me with guidance and support, and treated my product as his own, was invaluable. A good hunter and a good friend - this was the biggest gain from my product launch! Finally, I hope all makers can gain users and make friends on Product Hunt! Follow me on my entrepreneurial journey and stay tuned for more stories about Monica. Don't miss out!
