How do you manage your Slack limitation while using free version?

I have a small team. We use Slack's free version for our primary communication. But, since it has limits, we end up reaching the limitations quickly and have to manually remove or taking the backup of the files and unnecessary messages so that we get the 10k message and 5GB space limit back! Any of you use Slack free version and face the similar issues? How do you manage then?
