How do you feel about publishing your MOM growth numbers (revenue, users, ...) in the public domain?

I'm working on a platform connecting startups and investors. And it's very important to me to create the right privacy settings for startups. This survey is very important to me 🙏 Feel free to comment. I appreciate that 💜 Thank you!

I'm ok to share some of our stats, but there is a trick - you always need to keep in mind if it helps business or making worse. E.G. at the beginning it helps to acquire users, while numbers are growing - more people react and come to check the product. But if you have some negative growth number - it depends. Some talented founders know how to use this info in their company interest by making it public, but I just don't :)

@rimash 🔥 It's true. Often, a fall in revenue and customer metrics comes before explosive growth: that happens when you're down because you've started actively growing your team, and your focus has shifted. But when the team is built and trained, you can replicate and scale whatever has been driving results. Thank you so much for this comment 🙏

Hi Julia 👋 I’ve been thinking about how much to share early progress in public too. I think it does comes down to our accountability towards those metrics. So as I play this out in my mind, my reason not to share would be fear-based, I.e. fear of failure, rejection and embarrassment. I’m definitely on a journey to be less fearful and engage more with the community. Just a few days ago I launched my first product here and it got less than 10 upvotes, it did not reach the featured page and I only had a few visits to my web app and no sign ups. It can be quite daunting. Your post here got me thinking deeper though, and I would like to be more purposeful in sharing my progress with the community because I want to hold myself accountable and as a bonus to make allies and friends. If you could spare some time it would be much appreciated to get your general feedback about my launch and my product. I couldn't share a link here so please find the link on my Product Hunt profile. Best wishes!

@teamxearth I'm so happy to see such deep answers. Many thanks 💜 We all know those feelings. Is 10 clients a lot or a little? Is $10 a lot or a little? Am I good, or will I be laughed at? Many startups underestimate their worth by comparing themselves to larger companies. One of my goals is to help show founders how good they are 🙌
