Does Chat GPT write creatively?

Seamlessly, give you the edge, unleash, revolutionize, game-changer, .... These are a few examples of words and phrases that I have repeatedly seen in contents generated by Chat GPT! It also uses certain structures more often than others. Don't you think it's not as creative as some claim it is? Seems like it is highly biased when it comes to using chunks of language.

Depends on the definition of creativity. If it's inventing something out of nothing then no. Language models always have to have some source of information to "copy" or to create new truths out of it. If it's creating new stories from existing inspiration then yes. Chat GPT stitches hundreds of thousands of articles into a new one, which IMO is kind of creative. I think it's more creative than accurate :D
Kate Chasten
@ziga_kerec Well, it does stitch thousands of articles into a new one, but how can we make sure that the article it generates is the best possible article that could be written on a given subject. And I don't expect it to create something totally new (in terms of language use" but I thinks it's only fair to expect such a highly-admired tool to make a much better use of the sources it has access to. I'm sick of those " unleash and seamlessly" things that it uses in almost all articles. Anyone using it for a week can easily identify texts generated by it among a thousand human-generated content. Only good for inspiring, not so much of a writer whatsoever.
Žiga Kerec
@kate_chasten That's fair. I wasn't necessarily referring to OpenAI's Chat GPT rather than GPT language models, which are surely going to be a big part of the ongoing tech in the next decade. Given my limited experience with Chat GPT's writing capabilities, I trust you on the judgment of it being sloppy and corny. But I do think that a dedicated AI writing tool can be creative in its own niche.
Kate Chasten
@ziga_kerec Thanks for sharing your view. I'm not against AI too. I just don't like when a tool has certain drawbacks and a large crowd admire it more than it deserves.
Sara jalildokhti
i can't define the chat gpt work creative. its work is based on the attributes of existing works
Kate Chasten
@sara_jalildokhti don't you think its biased as well? It uses certain structing all most all the time and certain other ones never.
Chris Watson
I do not think so. It just makes synonyms possible! Even Google recently claimed that the content written by ChatGPT is unlikely to outrank there on the web as it does not provide any additional data and information. Just revamp what's available and Google every time demands something that is very new and useful for the user.
Kate Chasten
@excellentweb_australia Totally agree. But read somewhere, that Google is leaning toward Chat GPT generated content by changing its old motto " content written by people for people" to " content written for people". Is this true?
Chris Watson
@kate_chasten It will make sense only if ChatGPT has real-time data and information. I mean who is interested to read content that is 2 years old without any update?
Serenity Liliana
Yes, Chat GPT is capable of writing creatively. GPT-3.5, the underlying language model powering Chat GPT, has been trained on a diverse range of internet text, including literary works, poems, creative stories, and more. This exposure to creative content enables the model to generate text that can exhibit creativity, imagination, and originality. the leading destination for all your vaping needs in Best Vape Store in Karachi, Pakistan. @serenity_liliana Thanks for sharing Your view Serenity, but This is what I've heard and read about countless times. But in essence, it's nothing more than an imitator who's relatively biased and not up-to-date.

I believe no. Jasper it better then chatgpt in terms of creativity
Kate Chasten
@qudsia_ali I haven't heard of Jasper. Could tell me a bit about it?

ChatGPT's creative writing capabilities are still under development, but it has already been used to create award-winning works of literature. For example, in 2022, ChatGPT was used to generate a novel called "The Secret Life of the Mind," which won the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America Nebula Award for Best Novel.
Kate Chasten
@kyle_henz Interesting to know this. But I'm willing to wager that the content provided by Chat GPT for this novel has undergone major revisions. Just can't imagine it could write an award-wining novel all by itself.

I think it's a great place to connect ideas. A basic example: Write a text where you say how great is to be a marketer with lyrics from Taylor Swift's songs But that creative thinking has to come from you (or be very very good at prompting so you will get that idea like: give me ideas on how to write a post saying how great is to be a marketer and connect it with something related to pop culture, and MAYBE you will get the Taylor Swift suggestion). I like to use ChatGPT for brainstorming or making these creative connections but at the end, I have to rewrite it or edit so my post doesn't say: Being a great marketer is a game-changer like Taylor Swift's songs😅
Kate Chasten
@mimih_arteaga Exactly. You should rewrite what it generates, otherwise your content will of no use to anyone. But, can you make sure that what it gives you is the best in terms of information loading and topic coverage?
Robert Mills
ChatGPT can generate poems in a variety of styles, including free verse, sonnets, and limericks. It can also generate poems that are based on specific topics or themes.
Kate Chasten
@robert_mills your response to this question is Chat GPT-generated. That's what I don't like about Chat GPT. it uses a highly structures model that provides fabricated content that is (most of the time) good for nothing. To see what I mean, compare your response to this question with that of Phyllis Brooks: Let's compare your response to my question. You: " ChatGPT can generate poems in a variety of styles, including free verse, sonnets, and limericks. It can also generate poems that are based on specific topics or themes." Phyllis Brooks: "Chat GPT can generate short stories, novellas, and novels in a variety of genres, including science fiction, fantasy, mystery, and romance. It can also generate realistic fiction based on real-world events and people." Don't you think there is too much similarity between these two responses? This so called creative tool is making people like you less creative and more lazy. My humble opinion.
Prem Saini
Yes you can provide it with a prompt or a starting sentence, and it will generate a continuation or a story.
savio lavino
ChatGPT can generate code in a variety of programming languages, including Python, Java, and C++. It can also generate code for specific tasks, such as creating web pages or developing mobile apps.
Kate Chasten
@savio_lavino My question is more concerned with Chat GPT's use of human language not computer language.
Stephen Maden
However, there is no doubt that Chat GPT is a powerful tool that can be used to generate creative content for a variety of purposes. It is a tool that is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way that we create and consume creative media.
Nastassia
@stephen_maden I agree. I firmly believe that it's one of the most powerful tools for content creators, and it has huge potential. I think that even if the first attempt to generate the text isn't perfect, it's still possible to write uniquely beautiful text chatting with AI, guiding and refining the text.
Tegan Bradleys
ChatGPT can also be used to generate other types of creative content, such as: Scripts: ChatGPT can generate scripts for movies, TV shows, and video games. Musical pieces: ChatGPT can generate musical pieces in a variety of genres, including classical, jazz, and pop. Email: ChatGPT can generate email messages that are professional, polite, and informative. Letters: ChatGPT can generate letters that are personal, heartfelt, and engaging.

Disclaimer: The following paragraph has been generated by ChatGPT: It's an interesting question! While Chat GPT can generate impressive content, it's important to acknowledge that it is trained on a vast corpus of text and might lean towards certain phrases. However, it can still produce creative output by combining various ideas and concepts. Have you tried experimenting with different prompts or giving it specific instructions to see if it generates more unique content? ==== Not only is it not creative, it somehow generates the most impersonal questions to trigger the most superficial types of online interaction. ChatGPT is a tool, not a system, and therefore, it most definitely requires that all-too-important human touch... At least for now.
Kate Chasten
@arya_rg Exactly. While it's a good assistance and we can use it for that purpose, many consider it to be perfect writer and let it do the job, not knowing that it hasn't been made for that purpose.
Darya Antonyuk
depends on your needs, it can come in handy for initial idea generation
Salar Davari
Considering Chat GPT an independent writer is a mistake you never want to make. I always tell my team " your the writer, Chat GPT is only here to inspire you, not take your place".
Dennis Aronov
I think it's a powerful tool that can help foster creativity but I don't believe it's necessarily creative on its own.
Sarvpriy Arya
you have to make it write creatively
Kate Chasten
@sarvpriy_arya No. It can help us write creatively but it can never write like a human in terms of creativity.
I think this is a super interesting question, seems like a lot of people are saying its not creative and that it just has a huge amount of information to draw from, which it stitches together Isn't that the same thing we do though? Arn't we just writing based on the context we have from the teachers we had in school and the books we have read, and all the other information we have from our life's experience?
Kate Chasten
@william_mathews1 That's right. but we don't repeat the same words, phrases, and structures over and over again.
