Does a product have to solve a problem to be great?

I see a lot of amazing products out there that are very practical and solve problems that need solving. But then there's the Steve Jobs ethos of "People don't know what they want until you show it to them." What's your stance?

Knowing what problem your solving will help you identify and connect with your intended audience. I think you can make something not knowing what problem you're solving, but it will be more difficult to have it received by the world. Our product is background removal. While I know what problem it solves - removing backgrounds of images - I also am keen to understand very specific use-cases for background removal in hopes of reaching a greater audience and refining our product to fit those needs.

@lizworthy have you tried surveys and focus groups? They’re very helpful. Even reaching out to your followers/network on social media is hugely helpful as well
