Do you spend your weekends building or maintaining work-life balance?

weekends are for resting (trying to at least) we all work way too hard during the week to not give our brain the rest it deserves during the weekend work hard, rest hard.
Edgars
That's a good approach. I find myself overworking and doing more than I should, often forgetting to rest. However, it's crucial to do so; otherwise, burnout is just around the corner (based on past experience).

Depends on how shit I've been during the week, to put it bluntly. This week sucked and I recognized it sucked. Could sugar coat it and say it's because I moved houses, or I could be honest and say I was lazy. So I'm working this weekend. But I still make time to relax.

@carter_barnett I believe that if you enjoy your work, it can feel like a form of rest. Or maybe not! :D

@edgarsgriga Nah I think you're right. Going into a flow state can be taxing but if you enjoy it is it really a "flow state" or were you just having fun?

Now that I'm doing something that I don't associate as "work" I'm finding it increasingly difficult to switch off. I constantly find myself wanting to complete more tasks and get a head start on the week. Any tips to create and maintain that boundary?
Edgars
@_aneeshgupta_ Ah, I have the same... I use an app called "Awareness," and whenever the time is over, I move on to the next task. It's difficult, but I force myself.

@edgarsgriga interesting I'll definitely check it out! Is it like using a Pomodoro timer?
Edgars
@_aneeshgupta_ It's like a Pomodoro, yes. Just a free app on the Mac App Store. I believe there are dozens of other tools available. It's all about discipline, whatever works for you to stay on schedule.

Weekends are more relax but I can't waste those precious uninterrupted work hours. Its the perfect time to work on something light or that you've been delaying. I live with roomates so I get enough social interactions anyways :)

I take time to rest but also doing work that makes me happy. Writing is a major one for me.

@thisismeihere How often do you write?
