Do you have experience using Slack as a community tool?

We're going to build a community for our beta user to provide feedback and connect. Have you tried using Slack (or Discord maybe?) as a community tool and would you recommend it? Or do you know of an alternative that may be better suited for this?

We tried, both Slack and Discord.
The thing with Slack is that eventually, your users will want to migrate to Discord, once that happens they will be just a number.

Discord communities don't really work well, especially for something more serious, people are part of way too many servers/communities and eventually, they will mute your server.

I admit that I "Mark as read" all of the servers I'm part of because it's just overwhelming to go through all of them and read whatever they've been doing.

As for the question, of whether there is an alternative, I'm still waiting for one myself.

I've used some communication tools, and I'm finally using slack. It has various functions such as announcement, discussion, sharing, and voting.

Thanks for sharing, this is really helpful!

I feel kind of the same about Discord. I haven't yet used it to create communities myself, but just using it, it's just really easy to lose track, even when participating in only a handful of servers/communities.

However, it is probably still the best cost-effective option for large communities currently on the market.
