Do LinkedIn Groups really work?

Hi everyone, I'm sure some of you have tried your hands at building a group on LinkedIn or are part of a group on LinkedIn. I'd love to know your insight on if LinkedIn Groups is a good place to build a community around your product pre launch and if you've seen success in it.
