Are you happy to share your personal data to receive more personalized ads?

Time to take ourselves from 'Makers' to 'Users'! Some people believe that this is a fair trade-off - in exchange for sharing their personal data, they receive more relevant and useful ads. Others are concerned about the privacy implications and feel that their personal data should be protected. Is the convenience of targeted advertising worth the potential risks to your privacy? What do you think?

No, I am not pleased when my personal data is exploited for commercial purposes without my consent. And even with my consent, I do not require such comfort, as I prefer to actively seek out what I need to avoid being biased or falling under the illusion that something I've seen somewhere could be useful to me at a particular moment this week, this month, or even this year...

@srprs you're very right about this, I have the ads open and sometimes I can't get out of it, thinking which one is what I need and which one is what I want

Why not, big companies already know everything about us...

I think I might be a dissenting opinion here, but yes. I actually enjoy ads that are tailored to me

@richard_gao2 I might agree, but I get frustrated when every word that comes out of my mouth comes out as an advertisement.

No way, I'm not happy to share my data.

I feel like this happens on Instagram already – absolutely harvesting of personal data and in return a feed full of sponsored content. I still feel that my personal data like my current interests are more valuable than getting "good personalised" ads. There's no control over what I can reveal to ads.
