More Instagram traffic for your app?

We are building an app that is very customer photo/video heavy. We think instagram maybe a great way to promote content from the app, but we are struggling with building a follower base. Anyone got suggestions on how we can get the ball rolling?

Since your product involves pictures and videos, one thing you could do is to select people that have a decent engaged following on Instagram (1-10k) and ask them whether you could repost their pictures on your page, of course tagging them. Don't sell your product in the caption of these pics, but communicate your values. They will probably re-share it in their stories, if they see value in what you communicate paired with their picture.
