Step back from the visual aspects and think about what you would want to know as a potentially interested customer. - How will this help me? - How can I use this? / What are others doing with this? - How much will this cost me? These three things should be at the forefront, and should trump visual design. If you can relay this information in a wireframe or simple paragraph, you will be able to design a UI and UX that best compliments the information.

If its a value proposition issue you should work on messaging before anything else. Code and design wont mean much if you're not conveying what your value is.
