Why are spreadsheets used 20x more than personal finance apps?

Spreadsheets require a lot of manual entry. Why do all that work instead of an app? What are budgeting apps missing that a budgeting spreadsheet solves for you?

Because people know how to use them and modify and adapt them to suit their needs, preferences, do quick calculations, import and export data from bank statements etc. I'm one of those people. Also - I just love spreadsheets.
