Why your brain stops hearing your alarm (and 5 fixes)

Building Volyia taught us something we did not expect: the hardest problem in an alarm app is not volume, it is habituation.

Anything repeated identically every single morning stops registering as urgent. That is why adding a second, third and fourth alarm does not help, and why so many people turn alarms off in their sleep with no memory of it afterwards. It is not a discipline problem.

For heavy sleepers: what finally got you out of bed?

We built Volyia for heavy sleepers and shift workers, the people every "just go to bed earlier" tip ignores.

Most alarms just get louder until you learn to sleep through them. Volyia does not stop because you tapped it. It stops when you prove you are awake with a quick wake challenge (taps, a puzzle, Space Maze or Rooster Run). Then it gets out of the way and quietly tracks your rhythm across sleep, mood and hydration with private AI nudges. No monitoring, no shame.

What makes employee wellbeing feel supportive instead of invasive?

Most employee wellbeing products face a trust problem before a feature problem.

For people with early, overnight, or rotating schedules, useful support might include smart wake routines, wind down prompts, and private rhythm insights. But an employer benefit only works if employees trust it.

Which guardrail matters most?
