Is It Crazy to Build a Local App in a Browser-First, AI-Driven World?
Every day, the PH feed is packed with shiny new SaaS tools most of them browser-based, many of them AI-infused. It s exciting, no doubt. But compared to a time not so long ago, something seems missing: local desktop apps.
They re rare now, and it makes me wonder are native apps still worth building, or have they quietly slipped into the realm of nostalgia?
After all, web apps offer clear benefits for both users and makers or investors. Users don t have to install anything, updates are seamless, and their data is accessible from any device with a browser. For investors, the advantages are just as compelling: a single tech stack, easier user onboarding, lock-in effects, and plenty of levers for driving growth and virality.
AI tools I'm using now
I was recently talking with a group of founders, and we went around sharing tools we're using now. Posting my notes for our community here - would love to know what else people are using!

Burnout - Who is feeling it too?
I have been building, learning, searching, investing for the last 6 years, back to back, non-stop. I feel I have officially reached burnout. One week I am super into building and I code new things like crazy. And the next I just want to chill and go surfing lol. Do you go through a similar phase? How do you deal with the constant change of emotions?
What is the most unusual use of artificial intelligence you have seen?
Besides generating text, images and videos for you in a few seconds/minutes, AI can certainly do other things.
What unusual uses of AI have you seen?
Is AI Making Us Smarter or Just Busier?
I've been reflecting on the surge of AI tools ChatGPT, Notion AI, GitHub Copilot, and countless others. They're marketed as productivity enhancers, yet I find myself juggling more tasks than ever.
These tools generate content, code, and ideas at lightning speed. But with this efficiency comes an influx of drafts to review, emails to send, and decisions to make. It's as if the workload has multiplied, not diminished.
I'm curious:
Are these AI tools genuinely making us more productive, or are they just adding to our to-do lists?
How do you manage the balance between leveraging AI and maintaining quality over quantity?
Have you experienced a shift in your workflow since integrating AI tools?
When your team shows up without a paycheck or small payment , never let them down
I've been part of multiple SaaS, some failed, some made very good revenue. But the most important lesson I've learned from this journey is that very few people in this world can truly push themselves, stay committed, be honest, and work with passion, especially without getting paid or being paid very little compared to what they could earn with a regular salary.
If you find people like that, don t let them down. When your SaaS starts making good revenue, those who believed in you, gave you their time, and stayed respect them deeply. Reward them generously, because they deserve success just as much as you do.
If you could request one feature from the Product Hunt team — what would it be?
Software serves a purpose it helps people get things done. But everyone s needs are different, and the features that matter most can vary a lot.
I work here @producthunt and feel lucky to be able to build tools that solve problems I care about. Now I d love to hear from you:
What s one feature you d love to see on Product Hunt that would actually help you?
Big, small, wild encourage everyone to share their own
What are the challenges marketers are dealing with while using multiple tools and LLMs?
As a marketer trying to be AI first and making sure my team does the same, I do have some issues such as:
Juggling many LLMs to find a base I can work on (image generation, content creation, strategy builder, content optimizer, social media content and hashtag generation,...)
Having to test many prompts to get what i need. Sometimes I even need to repeat the same prompt in different LLMs to get what I need
Need to copy paste the result on a different tool for final edits and tweaks.
Ending up using the same tools I used before, such as Canva, google Sheets, Google Docs, ...
I do think that AI is super helpful for content optimization, reducing time to do research, cutting labor cost and many more stuff, but I'm afraid we're still using too many tools for doing the same tasks and it's not that cheap at all!
What are you shipping this week? Drop it here and stay accountable
New week means a new chance to ship that product or feature that's been on your mind. It's easier said than done though. Drop what you're aiming to ship this week, get advice from others and let's check back in on Friday and see your progress
From Productivity to Portrait Generator: The (Unspoken) Struggle of a ChatGPT Premium User
So here's a funny-but-frustrating experience I need to share...
Like many of you, I got ChatGPT Premium for all the cool AI tools code help, content generation, productivity hacks, etc. I thought I was investing in a super assistant.
Free Trial or Not Free Trial?
As we prepare for our next launch (April 10th), after winning Product of the Day and Product of the Week last year, we re facing a key decision.
With our new AI-powered features, our product has reached a whole new level, and we want to ride the wave of this launch, especially from a lead gen perspective.
The question now is:
Free Trial Offering a direct link (not currently on our website) for users to test the platform for free for a week, likely increasing lead volume.
Demo Request Keeping only the existing demo request form with our sales team, ensuring higher-quality leads.
Quality? Quantity? Or Both?
Any advice?
New ChatGPT Image Generation is INSANE. What have you created?
Okay, so I know everyone's feed has been taken over by the Studio Ghibli but I'm curious what else people have been able to create or seen that's really left an impression. Here are some that I've created! Also on X.

Product Hunt X Bolt March 2025 Hackathon Submissions!!!
Tonight, we are hosting a small hackathon in Phoenix in partnership with @bolt.new! All the hackers get free credits to build whatever they can imagine during the hackathon. Thanks Bolt for the hookup! In this forum thread, all the hackers will submit their projects and vote on their favorite one (they can't vote on their own).
The top project will get hunted on @Product Hunt by me! If you want to follow along, come back to this thread in an hour or so and the submissions will start rolling in.
Subscription vs Lifetime Plans – what do you prefer (and why)?
Every time I try out a new app or SaaS tool, I go straight to the pricing page, even if I don t plan to buy or subscribe. I m just curious to see how much they thinks it s worth.
Most products still stick with the good old subscription model, which makes sense, it's reliable, predictable, and aligns with ongoing costs. But more and more apps are starting to offer a lifetime option as well, and honestly I kind of love that.
In what situations would you prefer a virtual consultant over a human one?
Hi everyone!
Since GPT-4o came out (GPT-3.5 wasn t good enough), I ve been using AI (not only OpenAI) for many things.
I ask questions about marketing, legal stuff, taxes, travel plans, health almost everything.
It s fast, always available (not free, but not expensive either).
But when I have to make an important decision, I still go to a real person a human consultant just to be sure and double-check the final details.
I think many people here on Product Hunt use AI a lot too. So I m curious:

I’ve been automating email workflows — drop yours and I’ll simplify it 👇
I ve been deep in building an AI Executive Assistant not for calendar blocks or reminders, but for the real workflow stuff teams do every day:
triaging inboxes
prepping replies
handling follow-ups
surfacing what matters
Before we lock a few new workflows, I d love to hear from you:
- What s one email-related task you wish someone else (or something else) handled for you?
Anyone using AI as a second brain for content creation?
Hey everyone, I ve been playing around with different ways to keep my ideas, research, and drafts in check, but it still feels like I m drowning in research. :P
I ve tried traditional note-taking apps, but they re not flexible. And mind maps? They start out fine but turn into a mess as it gets complex with more data.
What are your favorite "fun" apps?
Yesterday @fmerian recommended Googly Eyes from @Sindre Sorhus, which I immediately downloaded! After enjoying the eyes following my cursor around for the day, that got me thinking - what other fun, goofy apps do you all have for your Mac, Chrome, or other devices that don't necessarily serve a purpose other than to bring joy and break the monotony? @Scroll Buddy is another one that comes to mind that I have saved in a collection.
We see productivity apps, AI-based software, open-source products, etc. all the time, but what about your saved products someone made after their 9-5 or on a weekend just to have fun and test their skills?
