Probably not the answer anyone expects here, but VS Code plus Claude Code in the terminal. No fancy IDE integration, just me deciding what to run and when. It's slower than letting an agent loose on the whole codebase but that's kind of the point. I know exactly what changed and why, and I'm not spending half my time trying to understand what the tool did on my behalf

The framing of "vibecoding vs engineering" assumes you're choosing one mode and sticking to it. In practice I switch constantly. AI takes the grunt work, I take the decisions that matter. Also, sometimes I might decide to postpone some decision that seems "proper" to me if I don't have the feeling that this is important. That being said, having a perfect codebase is not a goal in itself to me.

Just one, and mostly for the boring parts honestly. The work I actually enjoy I still do by hand. Not really vibecoding, more like delegating the stuff that feels like a chore. Things like writing boilerplate, setting up configs, or grinding through repetitive refactors, that's where it earns its keep for me. I've tried giving it the control on more interesting problems but I always end up...

Greetings from Moldova!
Hey everyone! Web developer for 15 years and still somehow finding new ways to break things. When I'm not in front of a code editor I'm deep in a game or a book. Excited to connect with builders here.
