I m Mohammad, and I built natbox.io: small Linux servers starting at $1/month.
A lot of what we run doesn t need a full VPS with its own IPv4. A Discord bot, a personal WireGuard VPN, an Uptime Kuma monitor, a test box or a small API will all run fine on something much smaller and cheaper. So I built that.
Hi everyone, I'm Mohammad, the maker of natbox.io. We launch on Product Hunt tomorrow. natbox is a NAT VPS: a small real Linux server with root over SSH, your own block of IPv4 ports and a routed /80 of IPv6, from $1 a month. The IPv4 address is shared, which is what keeps it cheap. Before launch, I'd love your honest input on three things: 1. What would you run on a server with 512 MB of RAM? So far I've thought of bots, a personal VPN, uptime monitoring and small APIs.
2. Is a shared IPv4 address with your own ports a dealbreaker, or is IPv6 plus forwarded ports enough for you?
3. What's missing? Plans currently have no Docker, no outgoing mail on ports 25, 465 and 587, and no managed backups. Which of those matters most to you? You can try a small server free for a month while trial slots last: https://natbox.io I'll read every reply and answer questions here. Thanks for helping me get this right.
