What's great

Exceptional static site generator, beyond compare. Cannot recommend Lume highly or often enough. I even made a theme for it called Xeo.

What needs improvement

Lume needs more contributions from you!

vs Alternatives

Having spent quite a bit of time with many flavors of static site generators like (in ascending order of sites built + time spent maintaining projects) Next.js, Nuxt, Docusaurus, Astro, Jekyll, Gatsby, and Eleventy, I can easily say Lume is my all-time favorite. Since I have begun using Lume, the situations where I would support someone choosing a database-dependent CMS like WordPress or a proprietary corporate web factory like Squarespace are very few to none.

Does Lume support data files and collections effectively?

Yes Lume supports data files and collections effectively and with maximum flexibility since it allows the developer to input, import, or generate data in a variety of ways at build time.

How stable is the API and plugin interface over time?

Highly stable API, including plugins and themes, and extreme emphasis on backward compatibility with little to no breakage, even in major release cycles.

How does it handle incremental builds or caching?

Uses Deno caching, very fast builds in development and production.

ImageOptim
I adore this app. Makes image compression a breeze. Is highly configurable without being complicated, and produces astonishing results if you are patient and willing to experiment to find the right compromise between compression time and file size reduction for your purposes.
